Engagement Story

I am going to post soon about what I have been up to the past 2 months while I have been MIA.

But since today is the 2 year anniversary of when Matt and I got engaged, I thought I would post our engagement story from our wedding website:

 How They Got Engaged
06/26/2009

Ashley: At the time I was working in sales back and forth between Charleston, SC and Charlotte, NC. My Charleston lease was up July 1st and I was in the process of moving to Charlotte for good. Matt and I were going to Charleston for the weekend to pack up my apartment and drive all of my things back to Charlotte. I was completely dreading a weekend of moving in the Charleston summer heat. On Friday night, when we arrived we had plans to meet another couple at Mistral, one of my favorite restaurants downtown for dinner. While walking down Market Street to the restaurant, Matt stopped me and told me he had something to tell me. Then he proposed right there on the street. When he got down on his knee, he pointed and there was a horse and carriage coming up right beside us that I had failed to notice (as they are so common in Charleston) with a sign on it that said 'Will You Marry Me?' Standing in complete shock on the sidewalk, I said yes as people on the street watched and clapped. Afterwards we went on the horse and carriage ride around downtown. It was my first horse and carriage ride and it was a complete blurr as I was all too excited, shocked and trying to grasp what had just happened. After the ride, they dropped us back off at Mistral where we did get to eat dinner. Matt had asked me not to call anyone yet as he wanted enjoy our carriage ride and dinner together first. As we were walking out of the restaurant, he told me he had one more surprise and when I walked outside, my parents were standing there. We all went out to celebrate together, so the weekend that I thought would be a miserable moving weekend turned out to be the best one I've ever had!
Sorry for the blurry pic- I didnt have a camera that night so all I had were phone pictures

Well that's our engagement story, I cant believe it's been two years and I also cant believe our one year anniversary is coming up so soon!

Speaking of anniversaries- Happy anniversary to my Mimi and Grandy who have been married now for 56 years! We love you and we have always admired what a beautiful marriage you have together!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I will post an update soon...
